Liberal Arts is an innovative pedagogy focused on small classes, close faculty student engagement and a strong interdisciplinary foundation with specializations in specific subjects. Liberal Arts is about the cultivation of the whole person though rigorous reading and writing, along with active experiential learning inside and outside the classroom. Liberal Arts students graduate with knowledge, a flexible range of skills, aptitudes and a life-long curiosity and love of learning.
Over the first two years of the BA, students train in the foundational aspects of the liberal arts and humanities through core courses, electives at JLSH and select courses across the different schools of the University. They do one-month internships between every semester. In the final year of the BA they choose a major – one subject – as an area for concentrated study and they write a thesis. The thesis in the third year is a detailed work of substantial length and depth over a subject specialism.
Applicants to the B.A. (Hons.) Liberal Arts & Humanities at JSLH should have completed the 10+2 level of schooling or its equivalent with minimum 60% aggregate marks. Students completing grade 12 in 2020 can also apply.
Candidates will be selected through a holistic admissions process conducted over three rounds based on a personal statement, supplemental application, X and XII Grade Marks, Faculty Interview, and at par JSAT/SAT/ACT score.
